Laptop accessory - Tyla Rae Paula Fashion Laptop Bag Review
Over the past couple of years, many accessory companies have come out with laptop bags and gadget bags designed for women, but newcomer Tyla Rae is certainly a breath of fresh air. For starters, their designs scream fashion first, as opposed to gadget first. Their selection of cases and bags include laptop bags, iPad / tablet bags, iPad Cases, and smartphone cases, Laptop Keyboard Covers and purses. Furthermore, these collections include all sorts of form-factors, colors and patterns, so that there is something for every type of woman on the go.
We got the chance to check out the Paula laptop bag in brown. This laptop bag is made of a faux pebbled leather which colored, in brown, it creates a bit of a worn and rugged look. While some might lament the fact that the bag is not made of real leather, we are pretty happy with the faux leather material because it’s actually more lightweight than traditional leather. The Paula is able to fit laptops up to 15″, and it is even able to accommodate our 15″ MacBook Pro Retina with aplomb.
The bag itself is quite slim, but its interior still has room to hold a laptop and some additional laptop accessories like an e-Reader, charger or tablet. Inside the bag is a lined interior pouch for holding your laptop in place with a Velcro strap. The outside of the bag holds a zippered exterior pocket which is ready to hold additional smaller accessories.
The bag also comes with a removable shoulder strap. In addition, Paula comes with a convenient matching detachable screen wipe. This is definitely the first time we have seen a laptop bag come with a screen wipe and we do appreciate it.
When it comes to protecting your laptop, the Paula bag does a good job of keeping your laptop safe from scrapes and dings. But make no mistake, this is not a replacement for a heavy duty protective case, as we’re not sure that it would protect your laptop very well from a tall drop.
Tyla Rae’s Paula laptop bag retails for $99 and is available in several other colors and patterns including black, beige, a selection of leopard prints, as well as a selection of faux croc leather colors. While we think that its pricing is a bit on the pricey side for a faux leather bag, we do appreciate its lightweight and functional form-factor which manages to stay feminine and fashionable.
The Good: Lightweight and slim form-factor, Tons of color choices, bonus detachable screen-wipe, great for MacBook Pro 15″ Retina
