Accessory turns smartphone into laptop
A new accessory promises to turn a smartphone into a laptop by providing the Gateway Laptop Keyboard and pointer for it.
The makers of the accessory dubbed the ClamBook said the device could be available in "ClamBook's slim and sleek aluminum design features a widescreen display, full-sized keyboard and multi-touch trackpad. Add style and functionality while transforming your smartphone into the ultimate connected device," it said on its website.
It said the ClamBook has dedicated keys for smartphones running Google's Android OS, although it indicated the device will also work with Apple's iPhone.
Also, it can run "desktop-class apps" such as Gmail's web app, Mozilla's Firefox browser, and an on-screen dialer.
The device also charges the smartphone while it is docked to it.
A separate article on tech site CNET said the ClamBook has a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and WXGA resolution - or 1,280 x 720 pixels.
