Transformer Prime more expensive than iPad 2

Published on by accessories

After the much-publicized discontinuation of Amazon Transformer Prime pre-order, an online retailer in United Kingdom has put the Tegra 3 powered Prime tablet of Asus up for pre-order. But here’s the catch, the Asus Transformer Prime listed is a bit expensive and surprisingly, it is more expensive that the iPad 2.

According to Clove’s listing, the new Asus Transformer Prime is priced at £550. It is worth noting that the iPad 2 in United Kingdom is sporting the tag price of £479 for the 32GB model. I used the 32GB model because the Transformer Prime listed by Clove is the 32GB variant.

The Asus Transformer Prime or Transformer 2 is the first Tegra 3 tablet powered by Google Android Honeycomb operating system, and an Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 update is expected to arrive early next year.

Aside from the powerful CPU and popular operating system, the Transformer Prime features an 8-megapixel primary camera, a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM MicroSD car slot and Micro HDMI slot, and of course, the optional Asus laptop keyboard dock that will transform your tablet into a laptop.
