Lenovo LePhone K800 with Intel CPU officially lands in China

While thankfully it won’t be called Racer-A after all, the Lenovo K800 has finally been launched in China. Although it was expected to be, it isn’t the first ever Android smartphone to sport an Intel processor. That award already went to the Lava XOLO X900 which has been selling in India for about a month now. Yet that doesn’t stop Intel from bragging about the K800 being the first Intel-powered smartphone in China.

Its actual name is Lenovo LePhone K800, and it’s priced at 3,299 yuan, just like we told you yesterday. That represents about $519 or €419 at today’s rates.

The Lenovo LePhone K800 has a 4.5-inch 1280×720 HD touchscreen, an Intel Atom Z2460 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz, an 8 MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, a 1.3 MP front-facing camera, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of built-in storage space, 21 Mbps HSDPA, and a 1,900 mAh battery. It runs Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread, and unfortunately we’re not sure if it will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (or how soon).

Whether or not the K800 will ever be released outside of China remains a mystery. For now, if you desperately want your Android smartphone to have an Intel processor, you’d better be living in India or China. Though Intel will surely not rest until the whole world is flooded with devices sporting its CPUs, so hang tight – a phone with an Intel Inside sticker on it is coming to a shop near you sooner or later.
